Marta M. Pires is a Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol), member of The British Psychological Society (BPS).

Marta is accredited as a Clinical and Counselling Psychologist from Lisbon and holds a MA from Tavistock Clinic in London. Marta has a background of psychodynamic, psychoanalytic , CBT, EMDR , DBT and DMP training and specialised working with children, adolescents and adults and trauma.
Marta is an EMDR Therapist (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprogramming).

Marta is a Deep Memory Process Therapist (DMP) . DMP is a regression therapy that helps to transform and release trauma from the body, mind and emotions in a single comprehensive process. Marta trained directly with Roger Woolger, Ph.D., Jungian analyst and the creator of DMP ( and worked with him while he was alive). Marta is a DMP Therapist accredited by EARTh, the European Association of Regression Therapy.
Marta has worked for several years as the leading clinical psychologist in CAMHS (Child Adolescent Mental Health Service) acute unite. Marta is has become an expert and is highly skilled working with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex trauma in adolescents and adults.
Marta uses EMDR, as it is one of only two modalities approved by the NHS, APA (American Psychological Association), US Defence Department and WHO (World Health Organisation) for treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). EMDR is also highly effective in other issues presented in therapy.

Marta provides ongoing therapeutic work with adults and children, adolescents and families, offering an integrative approach. In 2010 she introduced Animal Assisted Therapy and Belle, a Yorkshire Terrier, that assisted in all the sessions, until Belle retired in 2017. Marta is currently working with Chloe Lily Bear ( toy poodle), a new therapy dog.
